Altering his methods slightly, Jordan trains his employees on how to attract the one percent, in a smooth talking and urgent manner. But, after being slightly confronted by his wife, on the ethics of scamming impoverished buyers, Jordan realizes the market for richer clients could work. Jordan trains them in his tactics and salesmanship, through the artificially augmented prices they sell to their low income customers, contributing to the major success of the company. The pair begin to recruit several of Jordan's friends, Alden "Sea Otter" Kupferberg, Chester Ming, Robbie Feinberg, Nicky "Rugrat" Koskoff, Toby Welch, and Brad Bodnick (though he passed on the opportunity, due to focusing on his own drug business). After working their way up in penny stocks, the two found their own company, Stratton Oakmont, in a leased auto body repair shop.
